Gandhi re-visited or Gandhigiri

There is a lot of buzz on the air on Gandhisim and his way of living. Thanks to the Bollywood film “Lage raho munna bhai”, this gave us a new word ‘Gandhigiri’. The word ‘Gandhigiri’ means following Gandhi’s principles and living as per his ideologies.

Gandhi’s Contribution to Independence of India

There’s a lot written and said about his contribution to the Independence of India. There are lots of critics who have argued saying that his contribution to the struggle is arguable than that of other leaders who have carried out there struggle.

The critics argue that he stole the limelight & the whole attention that he got is debatable. As there are other leaders like Balgangadhar thilak, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Chandrasekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, V. O. Chidambaram Pillai and some other great leaders.

His followers argue that he as a leader was able to bring the common people to the struggle of Independence, before that it was only the much higher educated people where taking part in the struggle.

There is a point here; Gandhi was more popular than other leaders because of the way he took on the Freedom struggle. He was able to gather support from the common people because of his way of leaving and the path he took, Non-Violence.

Because the way of he leaved was very simple, the common man was able to relate to him and took note of his speeches. That’s where he stole the limelight from other leaders and become one of the greatest leaders in the History.

What Gandhi did different from other leaders was; he leaved very simple life where common people can relate to him and saw him as the leader who can take them forward. He did lose much of his glory at the end of his life.

Nevertheless, he did what others where not able to; bring the masses together irrespective of their background.

Enjoy the Gandhigiri for know.

Hi Raja Ram

Gandhiji worked get the freedom on the framework of rules and regulations.

Let say British rulers were dictators who don't follow rules and laws. They could have killed Gandhiji at the first struggle or first speech also. More over Gandhiji was lawyer who knows his limitation unders the british laws :)

My personal Favourite is Nethaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Who have started INA[Indian National Army] and fought against the british ruler with voilence. We can say Voilence is wrong and illegimate for freedom.

But Coins always have two sides. you should not always see one side and praise the side only(Gandhigiri)...

Hope you do article in Nethaji Subhash Chandra Bose

hi antony,

How r u dude long time.

Comming to your comments thank for dropping in.

Well am not supporting Gandhiji here. Just tried to give a picture why he is so popular among the masses. The popularity of him has over shadowed others contribution to the freedom struggle.

Talking about Netaji, India would have been different as he had been alive and if he had chance to be a Defence minister of Indpendent India.
